Shaken Self, Othered Gaze 2021
The image blurred again—
not by accident, but by something deeper.
What began as a technical imperfection
soon revealed itself as a reflection of my own trembling.
A blur not of the lens, but of the self.
In Jeju’s stillness, my mind kept shaking.
Even amid the island’s perfection,
I felt drawn to instability, to softness, to the edges of clarity.
These photographs are not about what is seen,
but about how we see—
and how the gaze itself can fracture,
can estrange,
can reveal a self not yet whole.
